Increase the speed of your laptop/pc by changing only 1 thing.

Okay, you have a slow laptop/pc. There are a lot of reasons why’s that so. It may be an old pc, you have low RAM or probably you just have a lot of files stored in your hard disk. However, the most common reason is that, you are still using HDD(Hard Disk Drive).

HDD for a laptop.

You see, HDD still has a moving part, the disk. TLDR for you non techies here is that it spins so that the computer can read the contents of your HDD. The only way to make it faster is to have it replaced with something that doesn’t have a moving part but still stores data… like a flash drive/pen drive.

A flash drive with gold plated cover.

You plug it in, copy your files and boom that’s it. It has no moving part so that’s why they are able to copy files much faster than diskettes. Now you will be wondering, “wtf are diskettes?” Ah child, those are like flash drive but wider and slower. Okay I’m old that’s why I know this stuff. Now, you might be thinking, “would be amazing if there’s some way that we can replace old HDD with something like a flash drive?”, and my answer to that would be… Yes. Yes there is. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the wonder of this miraculous, time saving, state of the art(it has been here for 10 years now) piece of technology… the SSD(Solid State Drive). Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD

SSD is like a flash drive built as a replacement to HDD. It will make your computer at least 5 times faster than what it used to be. I can restart my computer in under 30 seconds after I acquired this baby. You can use this on your laptop or desktop.

You may wonder why I’m making this post when this technology has been available for 10 years now. It’s because the majority of laptops sold here in Dubai still has the HDD, and when you request for an SSD, they increase the price of the laptop. However, if you buy an SSD through Amazon, 1 TB is just around AED 580+! I used the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 inch SATA Internal SSD – MZ-76E1T0B.

I bought around 4 of these for our company and it’s genuinely the best decision I’ve ever made. Im suggesting Samsung for those of you who are new to upgrading to SSD because they have a program that would literally duplicate your whole computer system, including your files, so you don’t have to install anything. Just run their duplication software and you’re all set. Open up your computer, replace your HDD with SSD and turn it on. It will open up your desktop in seconds! There are other brands of SSD as well that are cheaper but I prefer Samsung because of that software alone, it can save you a ton of time. The alternative is that you search the internet for “free” software that might turn out to be some harmful virus/malware, and you end up destroying your computer.

Okay let me give you one alternative SSD that I’ve used as a storage for my work computer. It’s a LEXAR NS100 2.5 SATA III (6GB/s) SSD 512 GB.

Lexar is actually good for SSD but they don’t have a software that would duplicate your computer though. You’ll have to reinstall and back up everything with this one. That’s why I’m using it as my backup.

I know this post is different from I used to make but I just wanna tell you, my dears reader who haven’t move to ssd yet, what great convenience and how much time I saved from just installing this one product. If you live in Dubai and want to have your computers increase in speed, just buy one of these and you’ll be good to go. I also do installation of this for around AED 100 if any of you guys are in Dubai and you don’t know how to do it, just let me know. =)
