Well, it’s uhm, it’s about mankind’s journey in the universe, weird murderous software and aliens.
What I think?
Visually mind blowing! I could not imagine that such movie exists in the 60’s. Around that time, we are still about to land on the moon, and here’s a movie that goes beyond that. Kudos Mr. Kubrick! This movie was divided into 4 acts, and the attention to detail in every act was phenomenal! I find the story just ok, I mean, if the movie was just about the story and if not for the long(but brilliant) sequence, it wouldn’t last that long(2h 30m+). The I just learned that this movie was based on a book of the same title and there are 2 sequels. I can easily see why this movie inspired George Lucas(which at the time of this writing just sold Lucas Films to Disney) and Steven Spielberg. I have heard a lot about HAL9000 but this is the first time I saw it. The character of HAL was amazing, he even scare the hell out of me. What if the future of AI is like HAL? Have you seen Terminator? Yep, that’s what we’re going to be. All in all, it’s a pretty good movie and it’s better to see it with a friend or two, since some scenes can be quite boring sometimes.
